Disability Pension

A public pension that working-age people can also receive when illness or injury affects daily life or work. Of the 3 requirements (1) first-visit date, (2) premium payment, (3) disability state = grade, (1) and (2) can be checked here; grade (3) is assessed by the Japan Pension Service. It is separate from the disability certificate — you may qualify even without one.

First-visit date — the day you first saw a doctor for the causing illness/injury (if transferred, the very first hospital; check medical records)
Which pension you were in on the first-visit date — National Pension, Employees' Pension (company worker), or category-3 (dependent) (check your situation then / pension notice)
Premium payment status — as of the day before the first-visit date (check via pension notice / Nenkin Net / pension office 0570-05-1165)
Whether 1 year 6 months have passed since the first-visit date (disability recognition date)
